Salmon fishing on the glorious spey
07 Aug, 2012
The River Spey is world-famous for its salmon fishing. The season opens on the 11th February and because the river is snow-fed from the Cairngorm mountains it can often stay high until early June.
The Rothes beat of the Spey is particularly popular - here's what website www.speyghillie.co.uk has to say about it.
"Rothes and Aikenway is one of the top beats on the river and is said to produce on average 460 fish per season."
Several of us here at the Distillery are big fishing fans. On our afternoons off you can often find us in waders on one of the best salmon fishing beats in the world.
