Speyburn Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is urging whisky lovers to get behind a new campaign to help conserve Scottish wildlife – the Speyburn Great Escape.
To support the invaluable work of the Spey Foundation conservation charity and celebrate Scotland’s great outdoors, we have this month launched a new nationwide competition. For a three month period, anyone who signs up to Clan Speyburn – our free whisky community - will be in with a chance of winning a Great Escape in Scotland’s rugged countryside. Speyburn will also donate £1 to the pioneering charity for every competition entry they receive.
The campaign stems from an existing one year partnership with the Spey Foundation to support their ongoing conservation work along the River Spey and will fund a project that opens up the Spey burns to wildlife by overcoming in-river obstacles that prevent salmon and sea trout from spawning. The project will also include protecting and restoring the catchment’s natural features to help improve the habitat and biodiversity of the area and the river bank.
Until 31st December all entrants from the UK who sign up to Clan Speyburn via our website will be submitted into a national prize draw to win an exhilarating trip for themselves and three friends in the whisky’s homeland. This long weekend will combine adventure in the wild with luxurious accommodation at the stunning Ballathie House Hotel in Perthshire. The lucky winners will also enjoy a Speyburn whisky tasting and country pursuits – the perfect weekend to reconnect with friends and the great outdoors.
Since the first single barrel of Speyburn was created in 1897 pure water has remained at the heart of our whisky which is why we are delighted to announce that we are now supporting American Rivers, a leading organisation working to protect and restore America’s rivers and streams.
Like Speyburn, American Rivers appreciate how our rivers connect us to each other, nature, and future generations. The organisation has fought since 1973 to preserve these connections, helping protect and restore more than 150,000 miles of rivers for years to come.
We are proud to help fund the vital work of this organisation and look forward to telling you more about how our partnership is helping make a significant impact on the health of rivers and communities across America.
More good news, you should now be able to find our brand new Speyburn 25 Year Old in the shops. Laid down in American oak Fino sherry and ex-bourbon casks, this is a whisky that slowly matures by the banks of the Granty Burn – for a quarter of a century. All those years mean the taste is rounded and smooth. And you’ll notice it’s got a longer, more warming finish than you might expect. Our oldest, most exclusive Speyburn now comes in a beautiful silver wooden box with two exclusive tasting cups. Every box is a one-off signed personally by Distillery Manager Bobby Anderson
At the end of last year the Speyburn team lifted the Inter Distillery golf trophy. After a nail biting finish our boys beat the Glenrothes team by one hole! We now have a photo of their proud moment when they received their prize. As Bobby says: ‘now that we have managed to master the distillery tour, it would be nice to get the opportunity to try and master that small annual event held at Augusta National Golf Club’!!
